Description
This saddle is part of the harness for a carthorse. It is made of leather with brass trimmings. The harness was used on the Godman Estate in Horsham, West Sussex, and at Pepper Gate Farm in Lower Beeding, West Sussex.

<DIV STYLE="text-align:Justify;font-family:Georgia;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;font-size:16;color:#000000;"><P><SPAN><SPAN>3. <B>Cart Saddle</B><P> The cart saddle sits on a horse's back and consists of a wooden frame surrounded by leather with a rigid channel in the centre. This was designed to take a chain running from the shafts of a cart on either side and over the back of the horse.
