Description
This is a trivet, an iron plate on three legs, designed to stand on the hearth to support pots and pans or to keep food hot near the fire. It is made of iron, and also has a short handle which can be used for lifting the trivet. The museum holds little information about its origins.

It is designed to stand on the hearth to support pots or pans, or to keep food hot near the fire. It consists of an iron plate, which is roughly semi-circular in shape, standing on three legs. The legs are 14.5 inches long and the plate measures 10 inches across. A short handle 4.5 inches long can be used for lifting the trivet.'
