Description
This is a steelyard, a device used for weighing and measuring. The object to be weighed, such as a sack of grain, is hung from the hooks at one end, and the 'bob' at the other end is slid along the bar until it balanced, thus determining the weight. The museum holds little information about its origins or place of use.
