Description
13 metal tags used to seal competitors clocks for pigeon racing. Each tag consists of a bent metal pin and a flat piece of metal with a stamped number. Pigeons racing involves specially trained homing pigeons being released from a location to fly home as quickly as possible. Barley, the owner, was a successful breeder of racing pigeons. MERL Miscellaneous note - D84/7 Barley donation - H.D. Barley, farmer, stockbreeder and agricultural writer. Barley was also a successful breeder of racing pigeons with which he won various prizes., The Official Rules of the Royal Racing Pigeon Association 2023 - Sealing of Clocks 218. All timing clocks used by members which have to be sealed shall be so sealed with soft string and with lettered and numbered roll-tag seals available only from the Association. Serial letter and numbers of seals to be entered on the Organisation’s Clock Sheet at setting and checked before opening, before being accepted as being in order. (page 17)
