Description
This lathe tool was used by the donor's father, who was a wheelwright and carpenter in Braishfield, Hampshire. It is a smoothing chisel, designed to be used after the rougher gouge. Its 1.3 inch blade is at an acute angle to the shank. It is stamped 'SORBY CAST STEEL' on the blade, referring to the maker.
