    This is a spiral auger, also known as a 'screw auger'. It was used by a wheelwright in Braishfield, Hampshire. It consists of an iron shaft with a square section and spiral bit with a screw end, and a 'T'-shaped handle. Augers are boring tools used in woodworking.
