Description
This plate was designed by John Stubbs and depicts the fictional village of Ambridge in Borsetshire. The front of the plate depicts a painted scene of the vilage, including cottages, surronding trees and fields, a pond, and a church. The artists' signature is also visible in the bottom right sorner. The reverse features a floral and shrubbery wreath, within which sits the artists' signature, a poem, and a summary about Ambridge, as well as a date and the BBC logo. The plate was designed in 1985 and was made in Staffordshire, England. This is one of a selection of items loaned to the MERL for the 2011 exhibition 'Everyday stories of country folk: 60 years of The Archers and MERL: 1951-2011'.
