Description
Butter prints were used for leaving a hallmark of the place of origin on blocks of butter and often had symbolic designs. This is one of two round prints are carved with 'Institute BD' - the British Dairy Institute. They are made of sycamore, a close-grained wood often used for dairy equipment, where scrubbing and cleaing is important, and have a handle.
