Description
This is one of 64 printing blocks used to print the illustrations in ‘The English Farm Wagon: Origins and Structure’ by John Geraint Jenkins, as published in 1961. Jenkins was the Assistant Keeper at MERL 1953-1960, and these blocks were found in the Museum in 2010. This block - Figure 31 on page 136 - shows a photograph of a Hereford panel-sided wagon. It is a box wagon with a deep body and double-tyred wheels, and was commonly painted blue. They were used throughout Herefordshire.
