Label Text
Overall coat, circa 1920s-1950s. This brown cloth overall coat is one of two in the collections, both of which were manufactured by Westcot Clothing. The thick material formed a strong protective barrier. It was probably a stock farmer’s coat, most likely a cattleman. Items like these were worn by farmers both pre-war and post-war. However, the boiler suit was increasingly favoured over these old-fashioned overalls and they soon became more commonly used by market employees. MERL 97/40/1.
