Archival history
Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum. July 5 1940 // The Fire and Hearth // 26. leather fire bucket . . bought of Halliday of Oxford' (Seems to be listed twice in Smith's catalogue), Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum. July 5 1940 // 562. Another bucket bought from Halliday of Oxford. It is just possible to see a sun painted on it in a bright light. If so it is probably one of the buckets used by the SunInsurance [sic] company in the days when each Insurance company maintained its own fire brigade.' (Seems to be listed twice in Smith's catalogue)
