    MERL miscellaneous note –Georgia Charitou- 15 October 2014- The container was used at National Institute for Research in Dairying (N.I.R.D). This cylinder was presented to Dr. Sharpe, who worked at N.I.R.D, in about 1975. It originated from N.I.R.D and was used for holding long-handled, sterilised milk scoops when taking milk samples from churns.
