Description
This thatching needle was made for the thatching exhibition at the Festival of Britain in 1951. There is an eye at one end of the needle and a cross piece at the other end to prevent the needle from slipping right into the thatch. A thatching needle is used to secure the bunches of straw to the roof and to each other. At the time of making, it was considered by the MERL Keeper to be modern in design.
