Description
An oblong sampler worked mainly in cross stitch in blues, blacks, green and browns. It is inscribed "The loss of time is much 1818, the los of truth is more, the loss of Christ is such 12, that no man can restore 12, Hannah Merry Her Work Aged 11 Years Finished September 7th 1818". Hannah Merry, who worked this in Warwickshire, is an ancestor of the donor's husband, on the maternal side.
