Description
Billhooks are used in hedging and coppice work, and they vary greatly from region to region. This billhook has a wooden handle and a steel blade marked 'W. Gilpin // Wedges Mill' and 'Solid Steel'. It also bears the number '6' or '9'. The billhook had belonged to a hurdle-maker named Holdway, who died in 1965 aged 80.
