Description
Nothing is known of the origin of this crudely made wooden rat trap. The top is fitted with metal bars and it has a spring door held open by a metal rod which rests on a trip device. When the rat touches the bait, the rod is released and the door shuts, trapping the rat.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This is a crudely made wooden rat trap with a spring door. The top is fitted with metal bars, so that the inside can be seen and the door is held open by a metal rod, which rests on a trip device. This consists of a metal hook, one end of which projects into the cage and holds the bait, and the other holds the door bar down.
