- Creator HistoryJohn Tarlton (1914-1980) grew up in Fairstead, Essex. He joined the RAF during the Second World War and worked in the photographic unit. He was posted to Canada and the Far East. After the war, he worked as a professional photographer, living in Tuffley, Gloucester and then moving to Christchurch, Dorset in 1955. Tarlton photographed many aspects of the countryside including hunting, shooting, fishing and the landscape. Many of his photographs appeared in leading countryside magazines, including the Field, Shooting Times and Country Life. After his death a book was published of his work entitled John Tarlton's Essex.
