Student mobility
Students from NUIST have been coming to the University of Reading to complete their undergraduate degrees for a number of years. More recently, summer schools for NUIST students have been established in Reading, allowing Academy students to get a taste of what it is like to live and study in the UK.
The partnership has also opened up outward mobility opportunities for those at Reading, with a number of students each year taking advantage of funding to visit NUIST, meet their future classmates and experience Chinese culture first-hand. The coming years will see significant growth in student flows to Nanjing, with field trips and summer schools for UoR students taking place at NUIST. Recent UoR student visits to NUIST included cohorts from Maths in November 2018 and Environmental Science in April 2019. The NUIST Summer School in July 2019 will see around 20 UoR students travel to Nanjing to study on a cultural and academic programme focusing on Chinese philosophy, modern history and local culture.
