Jonty is a field hockey forward who has played for both the England and Great Britain squads. He earned more than 200 international caps, won three European championship medals and played in the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games.
Jonty began playing hockey as a young boy under the expert tutelage of his father, Dick Clarke, who was also a renowned indoor hockey champion. He displayed particular promise while playing on the team at Southend High School for Boys.
While studying Economics at Reading, Jonty maintained a busy training schedule, playing on the University hockey team as well as for the England Under 21 team. Shortly after graduation, he made his international debut for Great Britain in a match against Belgium in February 2003.
He represented both the England and Great Britain teams, earning 201 international caps and scoring more than 40 goals. As part of the Great Britain team, he won three EuroHockey Championship medals, including a gold in in 2009, and was selected for the Olympic squads at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games, placing fifth and fourth respectively. He also played in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
Jonty played for Reading Hockey Club for more than 18 years during a golden era in which the club won numerous national titles and cups, as well as the 2003 European Club Championship. Off the pitch, he works as an accountant.
