Beskrivning
This is an iron chaff cutter fork with five prongs. It would have been held in the left hand and attached to the wrist with a cord and used to push the straw into the ‘feeding box’ of the chaff cutter while the right hand operated the blade of the chaff cutter. It dates from the eighteenth century and was dug up in the garden of Mill Farm in Old Buckenham, Norfolk, where it was known locally as a ‘chaff-cutting rake’.
