Steinberg & Sons Ltd (Manufacturer)

A pair of size no. 2 light brown corduroy breeches with laces at the knee, worn by the donor's mother's cousin when she was in the Women's Land Army (WLA) during World War II. The breeches were manufactured by Steinberg & Sons Ltd. in 1944, and were part of the official WLA uniform.

Then Beattie was called up into the Land Army. Mother had had to give up teaching when she married father in 1926. My sister and brother were born in 1936 and 1939, so when mother volunteered someone was needed to look after them. I was already at school. Mother was sent to a school in the village.’
