Mullers were used for heating ale or wine. This conical muller is made of copper and lined with tin, and would have been put into the heart of the fire in a vertical position. It comes from Gloucestershire.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This muller came from Gloucestershire where it was known as a VAMMER, i.e. a Warmer. // This type of muller was usually placed in the heart of the fire in an upright position. It is conical shaped and made of copper lined with tin. It has a lip to facilitate pouring out the ale or wine, and a handle 6.5 inches long which is riveted to the pan.
