This is a pair of Wellington type clogs, suggested footwear for agricultural workers. They have black leather uppers, a coper toe cap and studded strip of metal between the sole. The insides are lined with felt.

MERL Miscellaneous note-Georgia Charitou- 21 November 2014- These clogs were cleared from a garden shed belonging to the donor's cousin, Mrs. D. Thorne, 'Fairfield', 4 Hillside Road, Verwood, Dorset. An undated publicity pamphlet on clogs, probably published in the mid 1940's, suggests Wellington clogs for agricultural workers and in garages [ref. E. Vigeon, 'Clogs or Wooden Soled Shoes', 1977, pp.14-15, 17].
