A spoke shave with a wooden stock and steel blade, used to shape and smooth round work. It is marked with the name of the manufacturer, 'D. Flather & Sons // Warranted', and is also marked 'W. Newton'. The plane is part of a set of cabinet maker's tools, many of which are marked 'W. Newton', suggesting this may have been the name of the cabinet maker from whom the donor acquired the set.
