This angler’s basket, with a leather carrying strap, would have been used by a fresh-water angler to carry his equipment and catch, also to sit on while fishing. It is a rectangular basket, in the form of a hamper, made of varnished buff willow, with four corner posts made from broom handles which also form the feet of the basket. There is an oblong hole in the lid through which the fish could be put into the basket.
