This is a print from a lithograph of a painting, entitled 'Portrait of a Short Horned Ox', by Thomas Bland, c.1840. It was lithographed by J. W. Giles, printed by J. Graf of London, and published by George Bell of Penrith, Cumbria. The ox depicted was bred by Sir George Musgrave of Edenhall in Cumbria, and weighed 140 stone. This print is one of a collection of paintings and prints thought to date from the last quarter of the 18th century to c.1860.
