Описание
A spade iron was fastened to the underside of the boot to protect the footwear during hard digging, particularly digging potatoes, and to provide a solid surface on which to push. This foot iron was made circa 1900 by a blacksmith in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. It still has the leather straps and string ties for holding the iron in place on the boot.
