This is a fabric swatch of various British tweeds from Crombie. There are 32 samples fixed into card/wood holder with hanging cord. Beautiful quality tweeds of a weight not used now for clothes because of heated cars and houses. There is also the inscription: 'Guaranteed Crombie Product // Crombie Tweed'.

Heavier materials like the examples here are now rarely used due to higher room temperatures. These swatches were used by the tailor Cyril Kellman of Reading. They were made by the company Crombie, which held significant military contracts during the Second World War and maintained a good domestic trade during the 1940s and 1950s.MERL 97/81</SPAN></SPAN></P></DIV>

MERL Miscellaneous note- Georgia Charitou- 4 November 2014- The object belongs to the Kellman Collection. The items of the collection were used by the donor's father, Alexander Kellman, who was a tailor in Queens Road, Reading, Berkshire.
