A small leather book entitled 'Hoppus's Practical Measurer', published in London in 1861. A hoppus was the standard volume measurement used for timber in the British Empire. The book contains tables for calculating quantities and prices of timber and stone. The cover is inscribed 'William George His Book April 20th 1863' and has many notes written thoughout the book. The spine of the book is embossed 'HOPPUS'S MEASURER'. This book was deaccessioned and reaccessioned in the University of Reading Library.
