A billhook is an edge tool used in hedging, coppice work and other woodland trades, and show great regional variety with each area having its own accepted pattern and shape. This billhook has a straight blade with a curved tip, and a wooden handle. The back of the blade has been flattened by used as a hammer. The blade is stamped 'Finch Bros'. The billhook was used by donor's family at Sticklepath, Devon, between 1920 and 1950 for cutting firewood.
