Sheep dipping was a technique shepherds and farmers used to coat their sheep in formulations designed to protect the flock against diseases and parasites. Hooks of this type were used to guide the sheep into the washpool and prevent their heads from going underwater if using a liquid dip. This hook is a replica made to replace one lost whilst on loan to the Wycombe Conservative Association. The accession number of the original hook was 51/135 M
