Описание
A buttress, or hoof scraper (sometimes also known as a 'paring knife'), was a tool used by farriers to prepare the horse’s hoof for shoeing. The buttress was held in the crook of the arm, with the hand holding the bend in the shaft. The donor, who may have been a farrier, bought this buttress from a 90 year old farrier in Bloxhom, Oxfordshire, circa 1920.
