Описание
This thistle puller, or 'thistle tongs', was used up to 1939 on a farm at Marston Trussell, near Market Harborough, Leicestershire. Thistles were either cut with a scythe (before St. John's Day, 24th June) or bruised with a spud before a seed is formed. On the other hand, they can be bruised or even uprooted with tongs of this type, which were used to pull thistles from meadows, hedges and standing corn.
