This is an 'Imbra' humane rabbit trap. It is made of steel, with two curved arms activated by a spring, a pan trigger, and brass fittings to hold the bait. Unlike a gin trap, which caught the animal by the leg and left it injured, the 'humane' trap was supposed to cause instant death by catching the rabbit around the neck. The Imbra humane trap was invented and developed by Mr F. E. Sawyer in the 1950s.
