This is a small hand drill consisting of a single pole handle attached to a wooden seed box which is painted orange. It has two wheels which are set wide apart. There is a single seed spout, adjustable seed outlet for various sizes of seed and a rotating brush to distribute the seeds. There is also an inscription on the lid of the seedbox: 'No. 1 FEEDEX // MADE BY HORACE FULLER LTD, FEEDEX WORKS // HORSHAM, SUSSEX'. The object was used by depositor's husband in 1940s for sowing lettuce seeds on their small 30 acre farm in Finchampstead.

MERL Miscellaneous note- Georgia Charitou- 10 November 2014-The item was manufactured by Horace Fuller Ltd. of Horsham in Sussex. North Court Farm was part of The Walter Estate [Bearwood] and the house and buildings were built c.1880s. The estate was broken up before the First World War. The Howitts purchased the property just after the Second World War. The Booth sisters, daughters of General Booth of the Salvation Army, lived next door in North Court itself.
