This is a framed map of Berkshire with an inset engraved of the east view of Windsor Castle, taken from a survey made in 1822-1823 by C. & J. Greenwood. The engraving was made by J. Dower of Pentonville, London. The map was published by Greenwood & Co. in London on 4th July 1829. It is in a black and gold frame.

I do remember seeing this print - never my favourite! - and I seem to recall it in a gilded narrow frame, and that is all. Have you been able to check whether it is listed on any catalogue of an exhibition of annual portraits since acquisition? // I am not surprised that there is no record of the two Berkshire maps. They were given to me in the very early days of MERL by Victor Bonham Carter, when the museum was in Whiteknights house, probably about the time he gave us a run of Countryman for the MERL Library. // Only one other thought. You will know that MERL lent its two best paintings to Jimmy Thompson to grace his room in the Library.
