A wooden spade with a broad blade and T shaped handle, for digging out dykes and ditches. The blade in edged with a metal strip which is held in place with 4 copper rivets. The top of the blade is capped with leather. It is held place with a row of small rivets. There id also a thick twig under the leather and held in place with string tied to the handle This was one of a group of objects transferred to the Museum via Michael Hardy of the Dept Zoology. They came originally from Calthorpe Broad, Ingham, Stalham, Norwich.
