This lamp bracket was fixed at the corner of the village street in Hungerford, Berkshire. It was fixed to the wall by the screw at the upper end of the bar and the lamp hung from the ring at the bottom. The bracket was purchased from R. Middleton & Sons wheelwrights shop in Eddington, Hungerford.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This lamp bracket was fixed at the corner of the village street at Hungerford. // At the top are two parallel bars 5 inches long and 1.6 inches apart which slipped over a ledge. The bracket was held firmly in position by the screw at the end of the upper bar. There is a vertical bar at right angles to the fixture 1 foot 1.5 inches long and it lay flush to the wall when the bracket was fixed in position. A horizontal bar 10 inches long joins this upright to a second vertical bar 11 inches long. This bar is curved into a horizontal ring 5.5 inches in diameter. This ring held the lamp. // the whole is made of tubular iron except the fixture at the top which is made of flat iron bars to ensure that the bracket was held firmly in position by the screw.'
