This is a small brass ladle with the letters 'AA' and a pattern stamped on the inside. It has a well worn edge which indicates it was probably used for scooping. Lavinia Smith acquired the ladle from Miss Lock of East Hendred.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'Miss Smith obtained this ladle from a Miss Lock who lived in the neighbourhood of East Hendred. It is a small ladle of pleasing proportions made of brass and was presumably used for scooping as one edge is well worn. The letters AA surrounded by a pattern have been stamped on the inside, presumably by the manufacturer. The ladle is 7.25 inches long and 3.75 in diameter.', Lavinia Smith No. 632., Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum. July 5 1940 // 632. A small, plain beautifully made brass ladle. It has a short handle and is worn as if it had been used to scoop up something but no one knows what it was used for. Miss Lock.'
