This caving, or 'keeving', fork is a tool used in threshing to remove the cavings - stalks which are somewhere in length between straw and chaff - when using a threshing machine. It has a square head with three prongs, and a wooden handle. The fork was almost certainly used at Lunns Farm or at Woodley Farm, both in Woodley, Berkshire.

MERL ‘Associated information’ form [59/334] – ‘All these items [59/334–337] were taken from the barn of a now abandoned farmsteading. Were almost certainly used at Lunns Farm or at Woodley Farm which was once owned by the Pither family. The wagon (photo in slide collection) has on the front board “George Pither, Woodley Farm.’
