These thigh pads were designed for use with a breast plough. They were strapped to the thighs of the operator and allowed greater force to be applied to the plough. The pads consist of gently curving pieces of ash fitted together with a strap, and at the top of each pad is a looped strap designed to pass through the operator's belt. They were used in Enstone, Oxfordshire.

In paring the top soil away the handle of the plough was grasped in both hands resting on the thigh pads. Greater force was then put behind the strake than if the plough was paced against the bare thigh. // These pads, which consists of gently curving pieces of ash are fitted together with a strap, while at the top of each pad is a looped strap designed to pass though the operator's belt. Each pad measures 14.5 inches long and 4.5 inches wide, and were used by a Mr Trinder, a farm labourer of Enstone, Oxfordshire.
