Decorative lace was very complicated to make and was produced by skilled makers. Crochet work is produced using a hooked needle and thick thread. The finished product is less delicate than lace, but still produces a netted decorative pattern. Crochet rapidly grew in popularity in the nineteenth century. In the Edwardian Era, crochet patterns became very elaborate in texture and complicated stitching. // Reference: Reading Museum School Loans Box H92C'
