The Jetcut hedge trimmer was first produced by W. T. Teagle in 1953 and was one of the most popular products to use the Teagle two-stroke engine. The Jetcut was designed with a spring-loaded strap, allowing the trimmer to be carried on the user’s shoulder, and a movable blade, which could be angled over an arc of 300 degrees, allowing the user to cut branches and foliage at a height, as well as hedges, weeds, and grass. Teagle released a second model of the Jetcut in 1961.

MERL miscellaneous note – Teagle, About Us: https://www.teagle.co.uk/en-gb/about-us/company-history.php#1950 – ‘The Jetcut proved to be the most popular machine to use the Teagle two stroke engines. On early machines the drive to the reciprocating cutter head was by a roller chain through the tubular framework, whereas the later machines were shaft driven with a bevel gear at the end. This Jetcut was the forerunner of all similar machines available on the market today. Machines were exported to Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand as well as throughout Europe.', Photocopy of archive item – ‘The ‘TEAGLE’ HEDGE and WEED CUTTER cuts a two-foot swath as fast as a man can walk, and wood of ¾ in. diameter (2 years’ growth) can be cut easily’ [The Teagle “Jetcut” leaflet, 1954.
