Linocut print. ‘Milking Parlour’ depicts three dairy cows in a milking parlour. The artist produced the print after visiting the Centre for Dairy Research (CEDAR) in Aborfield, part of the University of Reading. Photographs from the dairy farm were used as reference points in the making of this relief print. The cows are seen from behind, their udders are inserted into the teat cups of a milking unit. The print is edition number 6/8 and is printed on Guarro ‘Super Alfa’ paper with black ink. The print is signed and dated by the artist. The print was acquired in a set of 4, including a hand-made presentation folio made by the artist.

MERL miscellaneous note - Artist Yoshi Israel Dominguez Angeles was part of the First Food Residency which took place over 8 weeks in the summer of 2016. The First Food Residency is an artist exchange between Mexico and the UK, initiated by Antonia and Anna Bruce in 2014. The focus of the residency is to build a creative dialogue between the two countries. Artists in residence are invited to research 'essential foods' from their host country, and are encouraged to meet and work with local people and other artists. The artists drew upon the collections of the Museum of English Rural Life and the University of Reading’s Special Collections for inspiration. This print was exhibited in the ‘Food in the Frame’ exhibition, held at the Institute of Education, University of Reading (01/09/16 – 04/09/16).
