This is one of 64 printing blocks used to print the illustrations in ‘The English Farm Wagon: Origins and Structure’ by John Geraint Jenkins, as published in 1961. Jenkins was the Assistant Keeper at MERL 1953-1960, and these blocks were found in the Museum in 2010. This block - Figure 32 on page 139 - shows a drawing of a Hereford plank-sided wagon. these wagons had a heavy undercarriage and broad wheels, and were usually painted blue with the grooves picked out in red and white. They were used in Herefordshire.
