This is a portrait gallery of photographs of chairmen of the Metropolitan Dairyman's Benevolent Institution and details of their names, dates and the amount of money they collected. It was issued as a souvenir to the dairy trade by the Cowkeeper & Dairyman's Journal. It was originally framed by S. C. Sheppard of Wimbledon, and has subsequently been re-framed in a dark brown wooden frame.

The NDBI provided financial assistance to individuals who worked in the diary trade (for a continuous period of seven years or more) and who had been required to retire due to age or ill health.
