A needlework sampler worked on open weave linen and embroidered with letters and numbers. It was made by the donor's mother at Aldermaston School, Berkshire, in 1879–80 when she was 9–10 years old.

CARTER // Dimensions: 30 x 31 cms (approx.) // Associated information: This needlework was done by Mrs Sarjent’s mother at Aldermaston School in 1879–80 when she was 9–10 years old. Her name was Rosina Carter. // Mrs Sarjent 84 years old when she donated the needlework to MERL.’
