This is a Singer 'New Family' sewing-machine, with serial number 5309703 and factory number 1249903. The machine is contained in a wooden box. It is an oscillating shuttle lock-stitch machine. The metal machine is painted black with decoration in gold and sits on a wooden base. The machine was manufactured in 1883 according to the serial number.
