This is a wheelwright’s pattern used to make the felloes (rim sections) of a wheel, and showing the exact curve needed. This pattern is made of wood and inscribed with the words 'Mr W Lock Cirencester // 10 dry ash felloes to this pattern x 2 3/4" square // W W Field Winson'. The pattern came from the workshop of Mr W. W. Field, a wheelwright in Winson, Gloucestershire. Mr Field retired circa 1960 and the business closed.
