This wheelwright's axe was used by the donor in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire. The axe has a wooden handle with a cast steel head stamped 'Steel Heal' and 'Hibernia, Marples and Son, Sheffield'. It is believed to date from the early-twentieth century.
